I am heading on an amazing two month adventure to Arusha, Tanzania with Youth Challenge International. YCI works with youth in several developing countries around the world. Their focus is on three key principles: leadership, livelihood and health. YCI projects work with local youth to support them in becoming leaders in their communities. They offer job skills training and deliver education, prevention and support services that focus on the most important issues affecting young people’s health today.
My project will see me working with the Umoja Centre, an education centre that works to empower youth to create change in their lives and the greater community. Students participate in a year long program o learn vital skills such as English, computers, business studies, and personal development, in addition to organizing community activities and initiatives about relevant local issues.
